Breast Lift in Michigan
What is breast lift surgery?
A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is a procedure that reshapes breasts by removing excess skin and tightening surrounding tissue. This increases support and returns breasts to a more youthful appearance. Breast lifts have become increasingly popular in recent years, and are an attractive option if you want to improve the shape of your breasts without affecting their size. The surgery itself involves a small incision, which will be placed in an unobtrusive location. Then excess skin will be removed, the breast tissue will be relocated and secured, and the incision will be closed. Complications from this surgery are rare, but should be discussed with your surgeon. Immediately following the procedure you will wear either a bra or supportive bandage to help reduce swelling and support your breasts as they heal. Discomfort will usually last for a week or less. Within two to three weeks after surgery the sutures will be removed. Normal activities should be resumed at your surgeon's recommendation. What can a breast lift help correct? Breasts change a great deal over the course of a lifetime. Some of those changes are desired while others are less wanted. Breast lifts reshape breasts that have been altered by weight fluctuations, breastfeeding, pregnancy, or time. Breast lifts can also reduced the size of enlarged areolas. Breast lift procedures will not change the size of your breasts significantly or round the upper area of your breasts. Breast augmentation can be performed in addition to a breast lift if you wish for an increase in volume. Discuss with your surgeon your expectations and goals when discussing your options. Who is a candidate for a breast lift? Your physical health is always an important factor when considering cosmetic surgery. You will have the shortest recovery time and best results if you are healthy, maintain a consistent body weight, and do not smoke. Have a frank conversation with your surgeon about your exact expectations before deciding upon a surgery. Knowing the pros and cons of your procedure will be enormously beneficial throughout the process. A breast lift is a good option for you if you are bothered by the shape or flatness of your breasts, have stretched skin, enlarged areolas, or uneven breasts. If you dislike the appearance of your breasts and want them to be fuller, more youthful, and better supported, then having a breast lift could be the ideal choice for you. |
